Course description
This course aims to
Adults with some experience of the French language (equivalent of A level) and for people who want to improve their conversational skills.
Who is this course is for?
The systematic study of French phonology, grammar and vocabulary. Language development through the use of films (e.g. Belle de Jour, Jules et Jim, Jean de Florette, Amélie, La Vie en Rose etc…), songs (Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg etc…) and current affairs.
Extracts of films with their transcripts will support learners’ progress and will be followed by discussions. Songs will help students to improve their pronunciation and memorize vocabulary. Discussion about current affairs will develop confidence and interest in French culture.
Is there any extra study outside the class?
Folder, paper and pen - £5.

What next?
Through continuous monitoring and feedback from the tutor. Optional presentation in front of the class and essays for students who wish to develop more their language skills.
This course will develop key skills in the following areas:
One hour or two per week would be advisable, as practice will help you learn faster.
Extended practice can be planned for learners with more time.

Muriel is a French native speaker qualified in the teaching of languages to adults. She is also a professional performer of French chansons with many years teaching experience and fluency in English.
Closure of courses
A follow up course is offered with a wider selection of films, songs, French themes and popular topics and also at Friends Centre French Film Club Saturday workshops.
