Description

Improve your Italian language and your cookery skills by preparing and cooking genuine Italian Spring dishes, while practising themed vocabulary and grammar in the target language. An ingredients/small equipment list will be sent out prior to the start of the course.

What can students expect?

Activities centred around cooking and serving food will enable you to practise previously acquired language and update your knowledge with support and guidance from the tutor. This is a hands-on, practical language course that will enable you to improve your conversational and listening skills, as well as develop your cooking techniques and knowledge of ingredients. Our native speaker tutor is experienced in teaching Italian language and runs her own food production business. The course will be delivered in Italian. Suitable for intermediate and advanced learners.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

Language and literacy skills at least equivalent to those taught in the target language. Existing basic vocabulary and grammar may be reinforced as part of language learning in target language. Basic numeracy at least equivalent to those taught in the target language.

Entry Requirements

This coure is suitable for learners who have completed at least 2 full years of Italian tuition at the College or elsewhere (equivalent to 120 hours of study) and can express themselves in simple but broadly accurate language. Assessment Method

This is a non-accredited course. You will be assessed informally by your tutor during classroom activities. There will be regular opportunities to review your progress.

Previous experience required?

This coure is suitable for learners who have completed at least 2 full years of Italian tuition at the College or elsewhere (equivalent to 120 hours of study) and can express themselves in simple but broadly accurate language. Confident/fluent speakers will be able to use and stretch their skills by participating in practical activities. Please note this course is NOT suitable for beginners.

What is the progression route?

You will be able to progress to other language and/or cookery courses, the tutor will advise.

Are there any extra costs?

You will need to purchase ingredients for each class, the cost of ingredients are not included in the course fee. An ingredient list will be sent before the first session.

Are there any set books?

There is no requirement for a textbook for this course, tutor will advise on complementary reading at the first session.

Equipment Required

Pen and paper, a willingness to speak Italian, an apron or overall, a small sharp knife, a tea towel and some containers to take your finished recipes home in.
