Description

Make a small butterfly quilt or wall hanging, using lots of different techniques. Suitable for beginners and more experienced learners. There is a requirements list which will be sent out prior to the start of this course.

What can students expect?

To learn a variety of patchwork techniques and make a complete quilt (size and complexity according to ability) under guidance from the tutor.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal information and instructions in English. The tutor will explain any technical terms for sewing and stitching used. You will also need basic numeracy to count, measure and adapt measurements.

Entry Requirements

This is an all levels course.

Assessment Method

This is a non-accredited course. You will be assessed informally by your tutor during classroom activities. There will be regular opportunities to review your progress.

Previous experience required?

This course is suitable for all levels. Beginners will be helped to acquire the basics of the crafts, while individual guidance will be available to those who are consolidating their skills.

What is the progression route?

Other patchwork classes.

Are there any extra costs?

Cost of all materials, threads etc for the project. You may like to use recycled cotton fabrics, the tutor will advise. The cost of materials is not included in the course fee.

Work set between sessions?

In order to fully benefit from this course it is advisable to practice the skills learnt between sessions.

Equipment Required

A requirements list will be sent out prior to the start of the course. Please bring items as advised on requirements list to each session. If you wear glasses for close work, please bring them.

Teaching method/style?

Formal teaching of practical skills. Demonstrations. One to one sessions on projects, lots of practical hands on work on your own project under the guidance of the tutor.
