Description

Create and design floral arrangements for different occasions from table displays to funeral tributes. Learn new skills and gain confidence in floral design. This course is suitable for those wishing to improve their floristry skills. Flowers are not included and you will need to provide your materials at a weekly cost of approximately 15. A requirements list will be sent prior to the start of the course. Equipment such as scissors, containers and floral oasis will also need to be purchased. All materials required can be purchased from florists, Hobbycraft, supermarkets or on-line retailers.

What can students expect?

At the end of this course you will be able to: -
Create a variety of different floral arrangements, using suitable materials and correct design principles. You will be given advice and demonstrations how to arrange flowers and construct simple designs using floristry skills and techniques on a range of different products and containers, and which products are suitable for each

Late starters allowed?

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal instructions and information in English and be able to measure and complete simple calculations. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.

Entry Requirements

This course is not suitable for complete beginners to floristry.

Assessment Method

There will be ongoing assessment throughout the course by observation and questioning and answers. Your tutor will give you regular feedback throughout the course on your progress.

Previous experience required?

You must have attended the Floristry for Beginners course or have some practical knowledge of Floristry

What is the progression route?

Further floristry courses with BAEC and other providers.

Are there any extra costs?

The cost of flowers and other sundries used are not included in the course fee. You will need to provide your own flowers (approximately 10 - 20.00 per week). The tutor will advise.

Equipment Required

Please bring to the first session all items on the requirements list sent out before the start of the course as well as a pen, a note book and floristry scissors or secateurs or a sharp knife. The cost of flowers and sundries used is not included in the course fee.

A practical, workshop style course with a mix of demonstration, 1-1 tutorials, observation and questions and answers.
