Description

This course will cover floristry techniques used to create beautiful floral tributes suitable for a funeral, such as a heart and round wreath, posy pad, funeral spray, and posy. Flowers are not included and you will need to provide your materials at a weekly cost of approximately 15. A requirements list will be sent prior to the start of the course.

What can students expect?

You will learn how to arrange flowers and foliage in floral foam, attach decorations, how to design shapes using floral materials. Understand floristry terms and techniques.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal instructions and information in English and be able to measure and complete simple calculations. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.

There will be ongoing assessment by observation, questions and answers throughout the course. Your tutor will give you regular feedback on your progress.

Previous experience required?

None. However, an interest in floristry and floral design will be useful.

Are there any extra costs?

You will need to provide your own flowers and sundries (approx. 15.00 per week). Equipment such as scissors, containers and floral oasis will also need to be purchased by the student; a full list will be given prior to the start.
All materials required can be purchased from florists, Hobbycraft, supermarkets or on-line retailers.

Equipment Required

Scissors and plastic table cloth. Posy dish, floral foam for fresh flowers, anchor/pot tape, foliage and flowers. Inc 7 single headed tall flowers (roses, germini, carnations) lily, chrysanthemum, spray carnations. etc

A practical, workshop style course with a mix of demonstration, 1-1 tutorials, observation and questions and answers.
