Description

Learn to create seasonally inspired winter floral arrangements, reflecting the spirit and colours of the festive season. You will make a pine door wreath, a candle table display, Christmas basket and mantel piece display, using decorations, fresh flowers and foliage. This course is suitable for beginners or those wishing develop their floristry skills. You will learn the practical mechanics, skills and knowledge to explore your creative side. Flowers are not included and you will need to provide your materials at a weekly cost of approximately 15. A requirements list will be sent prior to the start of the course.

What can students expect?

You will learn how to: Design and create floral arrangements using floristry techniques. Understand basic floral principles of design. Select correct materials suitable for each design.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal instructions and information in English and a basic level of numeracy. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.

None, this is a course for beginners.

Assessment Method

There will be ongoing assessment throughout the course by observation and questioning and answers. Your tutor will give you regular feedback throughout the course.

Equipment Required

Please bring to the first session: a pen, a note book and floristry scissors or secateurs or a sharp knife. The cost of flowers and sundries used is not included in the course fee. On the first session please bring: basket, floral foam for fresh flowers, foliage, festive style/colour flowers eg red/green or white/silver, (5 stems of single headed flowers eg roses, carnations, gerbera, plus other flowers eg chrysanthemums, spray carnations, gyp etc). Also Christmas style ribbon, anchor/pot tape, festive decorations, such as pine cones and baubles etc

A practical, workshop style course with a mix of demonstration, 1 to 1 tutorials, observation and questions and answers.
