Step up and improve your guitar playing. We will look at additional chord shapes, finger picking, combining melody with chords for solo guitar and more. This course is for those who have attended Level 1 and 2 courses, or for similarly experienced players with a knowledge of barre chords.
What can students expect?
This course will include melody playing, additional chord shapes and duet playing. It will also look at approaches to finger picking, cover a few of the basics of chord structure and how to combine melody with chords for solo guitar. The class is designed to encourage guitar playing in class within a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Material is presented using tablature, chord diagrams, audio and demonstration.
Late starters allowed?
Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required
You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal instructions and information in English and be able to count and complete basic calculations. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.
This course is not suitable for complete beginners to the guitar.
This is a non-accredited course and assessment will be by observation and questions and answers. The tutor will give you regular feedback on your progress throughout the course.

There are further guitar courses available at BAEC and other providers, the tutor will advise.
Are there any extra costs?
Yes, you will need to provide your own guitar, plus a pen and paper.
Are there any set books?
No, however, your tutor will provide all necessary information.
Work set between sessions?
In order to gain maximium benefit from the course, it is advisable to practice the skills learnt between sessions
Guitar, notebook and pencil.
This is a practical course with a mixture of demonstration, group work, questions and answers and one-to-one tutorials.
