Description

Learn how to decorate your Christmas cake to a high standard. You will design your cake, make marzipan, coat the cake with sugar paste and make models to decorate your homemade or shop bought cake.

What can students expect?

Learn skills such as making marzipan, coating the cake professionally with sugar paste. You will create a design and make models to suit the design.

Late starters allowed?

Only up to week 2.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal instructions and information in English and be able to measure accurately in inches and centimetres. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.

No, this is a beginners course.

Assessment Method

This is a non-accredited course and your tutor will informally assess you throughout the course. Assessment will be via observation, questions and answers and production of an end product.

Other cake decoration and sugar craft courses, the tutor will advise.

Yes, each week the cost of ingredients and small equipment as required. Expect to spend approx 25.00 on equipment. The cost of materials and ingredients is not included in the course fee. Tutor will advise on first week.

Work set between sessions?

Yes, this will be discussed at the first session. In order to progress it is advisable to practise the skills learnt between sessions.

Equipment Required

Please bring a pen, pencil, ruler and notebook to the first session. At the first session, you will design your cake decorations and do some practise and the tutor will advise what you will need to bring for the rest of the course.
