Description

It is recommended that you attend and pass this course before registering with Ofsted to work as a childminder in the London Borough of Bromley. This course will prepare you to work as a home-based carer/childminder. As well as learning relevant aspects of childcare, this knowledge based unit supports the development of policies and procedures relevant to registration and the basic business skills needed to set up a home-based child care service. You need to complete tasks in class and pass an online test.Test dates will be confirmed by tutors.

You will complete 7 sections:
Understand how to set up a home based childcare service
Understand how to establish a safe and healthy home based environment for children
Understand the importance of partnerships with parents for all aspects of the home based child care service
Understand the principles of development of routines for home based child care
Understand how to provide play and other activities in home based settings that will support equality and inclusion
Understand how home based child carers can support the safeguarding of children in their care
Understand the principles of supporting positive behaviour in home based childcare settings.

No, this is an intensive course.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

As you will work towards a level 3 unit qualification, you will need to be able to converse fluently in English with your tutor and fellow students. You will need to be able to read, write and understand English at level 2, this will be assessed at interview.

Yes upon successful completion of the unit, you will receive a Unit certificate from CACHE; this is the "CYPOP5, Understand how to set up a home based child care service"
