Description

Develop specific aspects of painting and drawing through projects using water-based and other media. Improve your understanding of various media through a process of demonstration and practical lessons.

What can students expect?

Explore a variety of water-based media and different techniques to improve new or existing skills. Objectives will be set by mutual agreement between tutor and students and there will be opportunities for you to develop specific areas according to ability. Beginners will follow a programme of exercises, closely monitored by the tutor; while more experienced students will build on their previous experience to extend their expertise and improve weaknesses identified at the beginning of the course. By the end of the programme, all learners will have consolidated their skills and will be better able to express their individuality in their artworks.

Yes, with the agreement of the tutor.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required

You will need to be able to understand both written and verbal information and instructions in English and be able to measure accurately and complete simple calculations. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.

This is a non-accredited course. You will be assessed informally by your tutor during classroom activities. There will be regular opportunities to review your progress.

Previous experience required?

All levels are welcome, the tutor will discuss your requirements and personal areas for improvements at †with you in the first session.

What is the progression route?

Other courses in visual arts at BAEC (wide choice available), specialist courses at other providers. The tutor will discuss progression with you during the course.

Are there any extra costs?

You will need to provide your own paints, paper and brushes. The tutor will advise at first session. Please bring any art materials you may have to the first session. The course fee does not include the cost of the materials used.

Are there any set books?

No set books, but books available in class.

Work set between sessions?

In order to fully benefit from this course, it is advisable to practise the skills learnt between sessions.

Equipment Required

Please bring any art materials and paper you may have to the first session. Tutor will advise at the first session. Wear old clothes or bring an overall.
