Learn how to get the most out of your SLR camera and how to take control of all the functions, menus and buttons. The course will cover basic camera settings to more advanced camera techniques. You will learn how to use your camera in manual and understand how to select appropriate apertures and shutter speeds. The course will cover composition and the different genres of photography such as portraits, landscapes and still life.
What can students expect?
A creative course teaching you how to use the SLR (film or digital) camera artistically. This course is suitable for beginners or those with previous experience who need to brush up on their skills. Learn all the main camera functions such as aperture, shutter, depth of field, lenses, exposure, ISO and composition.
Late starters allowed?

Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills required
You will need to be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and to make notes from learning undertaken. You will also need to be able to follow technical explanations and instructions for practical work. The tutor will explain any specialist terms used.
None, this is a beginners level course.
There will be ongoing informal assessment by the tutor throughout the course and you will receive regular feedback on your progress throughout the course.

What is the progression route?
To SLR Photography follow On course, or other BAEC photography courses including qualification courses.
Are there any extra costs?
You will need to provide your own camera. Tutor will advise at first session.
The cost of printing photographs is not included in the course fee.

In order to fully benefit from this course, it is advisable to practise the skills learnt between sessions.
