What the course is about

During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is made up of a number of patterns or physical movements that go together to create a form. It is a mind/body exercise allowing the practitioner to relax while gently improving balance, fitness and well-being.

The movements are easy to learn, very slow and gentle and suitable for all regardless of your physical make up.

During this course an experienced?tutor will guide and support you while you develop your Tai Chi.

In a relaxed environment, this course can help you to improve your:<p></p><ul><li>Health</li><li>Fitness</li><li>Wellbeing</li><li>Physical and mental balance</li></ul><p>. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.

Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.

This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>

There are no pre-course admission sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.

Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.

There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

Anyone is welcome to join and learn the skills in this subject, but you will need to be fit and well enough to take part in the activities.

You must be over 60 years of age and priority will be given to those living alone.

Materials and costs

You will need to wear loose and comfortable clothes with flat shoes. Nothing else is required.

<br><b>Qualification Levels:</b> there is further information about qualification levels on our website. Some courses will have learners of different levels being taught in the same class with differentiated learning materials and activities appropriate to the qualification level.
<br><b>Proof of identity:</b> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
<br><b>Off-site activities:</b> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
