Online learningWhat the course is about
<p>With the other learners in your class, you will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Review your understanding of the basics of Maths, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and multiplication tables</li>
<li>Work on metric measures</li>
<li>Work on fractions, decimals and percentages</li>
<li>Develop data handling skills including averages, drawing graphs and charts</li>
<li>Work on problem solving skills</li>
<li>Complete classroom and homework activities to prepare you for your assessment</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>This is a course leading to a qualification.</strong> You will need to come into one of our Centres to take your exam at the end of the course. This course is paid for by public funding and you will be required to complete recognised Maths Assessments. We will also, where appropriate, help you to improve other skills such as English, ICT and skills needed for employability.</p>

<p>You will be required to participate in an Admission Session to attend this course. Assessment of progress, tests, exams
<p>This is a Level 1 and Level 2 examination course, where you will work towards the Pearson Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills Maths qualification. If successful you will receive a nationally recognised certificate. With your tutor you will agree goals for you to work on in class and this will be reviewed at regular intervals.</p>
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p>This course is for you if:</p>
<ul>
<li>You want to gain a qualification at Level 1 or Level 2</li>
<li>You want to attend a small, friendly class and work at your own pace and level</li>
<li>You want to improve your practical use of Maths to help in everyday situations</li>
<li>You can attend every week and complete home study tasks between sessions</li>
</ul>
<p>You should be confident with your IT skills and have access to a laptop, a quiet space from which to attend the online classes as well as a reliable internet connection. A scanner or smartphone on which a scanning app can be downloaded is also required. The use of a printer would also be desirable but is not essential. <strong>IMPORTANT - You will be expected to attend regularly from the first session and complete any homework given. Materials and costs
<p>You will need to be able to access the online sessions and materials. You will need an A4 folder, pen and paper, ruler and calculator. <strong>The course is Government funded so there is no cost for the course. PLEASE NOTE - You will be charged an exam fee of £30 if you fail to turn up for an exam.</strong></p>

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
