What the course is about

During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about making flower arrangements whilst being more eco-friendly. Following recent guidance about the dangers of using foam, it can be challenging to get started or arrange your favourite styles.

Come along and enjoy a fun session where we will find out more about some or all of the following:
· How to build a pedestal arrangement without using foam.
· Easy tips using ordinary household items
· A reminder that colour, shape and style overcome most difficulties
· Use of accessories that can be used to complement an arrangement while holding it in place
· 10 of the best alternatives to floral foam
· Where to look for inspiration.
· Where to buy alternatives
· How to keep up with other Flower Arrangers

All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will workusing these elements throughout the course. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.

Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.

This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.

Pre-course information session or interview

There are no Pre-course information sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.

· You should not wear open toed shoes in the classroom, for your own safety. You may wear an apron to protect your clothing.
· If you suffer from known allergies to flowers or foliage, we advise you to bring protective gloves.
· Please make some time to read the materials section of this form.

Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.

There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This is a Beginners course, and you will be expected to have no experience in the subject or very basic knowledge of the subject, including some memory of the subject from school.

Materials and costs

You will need a notebook and pen.

· Please bring along a selection of flowers in colours that you will enjoy using. You will need no more than 7 blooms. These can be anything that you have in your garden, or can buy inexpensively
at the supermarket or market flower stall.
· If you have a container you would like to use, please bring it along, not too big, nor precious, as you will need to transport it to and from the class.

· If you suffer from known allergies to flowers or foliage we advise you to bring protective gloves.

Other materials will be provided but before buying expensive materials and equipment please discuss their purchase with your tutor.

<br><b>Proof of identity:</b> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
<br><b>Off-site activities:</b> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
<br><b>Parking at Centres:</b> parking at centres may be limited, please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
