What the course is about
Develop your existing vocabulary and improve your ability to communicate effectively in conversation. You will consolidate your understanding of the German culture and vocabulary and increase your confidence and ability to speak and understand the language. You will take part in group discussions and conversations and look at appropriate level films and television.
The topics covered may include:
Eating out and speciality foods
German culture and history
Key grammar and tenses
Medical and health issues
Music, films and television
Travel, tourism and leisure activities
You will develop your language skills, which will boost your confidence if travelling abroad. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community.
Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.
Practice at home is advisable to enhance your learning experience.
This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams
Your tutor will work with you to develop an Individual Learning Plan and review your progress against this throughout the length of the course.
There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
You will have completed a beginners - Step 2 course (or equivalent) and have a basic knowledge of the subject.
Materials and costs
You will need a notebook and pen.
After completing Beginners - Step 3, you will have gained enough basic knowledge to enable you to continue learning on German Intermediate - Step 1.
Other courses at the next level may be offered by Skills&Learning or other local providers.

<br><b>Proof of identity:</b> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session.
<br><b>Home study:</b> you may be required to do some study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.
<br><b>Off-site activities:</b> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
<br><b>Parking at Centres:</b> parking at centres may be limited, please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
