Description

Weekly exercises and projects to develop confidence with pencil and charcoal and coloured pastels.
Suitable for beginners and those wishing to improve.
This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.




What can students expect?

Led by an experienced tutor, students will make rapid progress and explore line, tone, measurement, texture, shading and composition.
They will be taught how to ‘look’ and how to interpret what they see.
Subject matter will include still life, portrait, landscape, perspective, composition.
This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

No

What is the progression route?

Learners will see progression from day one. Each term will see a repeat of key exercises with
new ideas and personal projects for returners.

What should students bring?

For the 1st session, please bring:
• Paper - white cartridge A3 pad.
• A pad of tinted ‘pastel’ paper is also useful
• Pencils - assorted HB, 2B - 6B for example
• Charcoal sticks
• Charcoal pencils

• Ruler
• Masking tape
• An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes
• Paper clips or bulldog clips
