Description

Drawing and painting with a variety of media: pencil, charcoal, acrylics. This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.

What can students expect?

This course is course is designed to help you develop your artistic skills and take your creativity further. You will be drawing and painting with a variety of media: pencil, charcoal, acrylics. Working at your own pace, you will study a wide variety of subject matter including still life, portraits and figures, animals, landscapes and contemporary themes. This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

No

Further painting and drawing courses or other art courses.

What should students bring?

• A hard backed sketch book
• 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B pencils
• Soft rubber and putty rubber
• Two hole metal pencil sharpener
• Masking tape
• An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes
• Paper clips or bulldog clips
For painters:
• Brushes if you already have them
• Paints – watercolour and /or acrylic
• Mixing palette
• Two water containers (jam jar or large yogurt pot)
Students will be advised of materials that they will need to purchase during the course, but this depends on individual preference of media.
Stable internet connection, a tablet or PC and ability to use ZOOM and WhatsApp if course moves online.

Teaching method/style?

Demonstration, individual and group tuition and practical work. The tutor suggests projects and brings supporting materials, but students are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and to supply visual research of their own. (i.e. If the subject is ‘The Drama of the Sea’; individuals might like to use photo material from their own holiday in Cornwall rather than that supplied by the tutor.
