Description

Pastels are a lovely medium to work with; they are easy to use and offer an exciting range of possibilities for working with colour and mark. This is a course for beginners or artists wanting to experiment with a different medium.<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.

What can students expect?

In this course, you will learn about different types of pastels and pastel papers and how to use them to achieve the best results. You will learn how to use to use various techniques such as colour blending, layering, shading, etc. You will be encouraged to develop your personal style.&nbsp;<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.</span></p>

No, just an interest in colour and tone.

Are there any extra costs?

A contribution towards a model for one session. Students may also want to buy specific pastel shades not included in set (i.e. turquoise/blue tints, mauve and purple shades).

Work set between sessions?

No, but extending ideas learned in class and finishing work off is encouraged but not essential.

What should students bring?

<span style="font-weight: bold;">For the 1st session, please bring:</span><p></p><ul><li>&nbsp;Pastel paper preferably in a pad with tissue inserts with neutral pages</li><li>A set of soft pastels with at least 48 colours</li><li>A plastic technical pencil</li><li>Fixative</li><li>Masking tape</li><li>An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes</li><li>Paper clips or bulldog clips&nbsp;</li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;">Computer or tablet, stable internet connection, ability to use of ZOOM if the course moves online.</span><br><p></p>
