Description

TA next step course for new players wanting to refresh their knowledge and learn new techniques. Check your understanding of bidding and play with an interactive lesson and online practice play with video link.

What can students expect?

A next step course if you have already completed beginners’ lessons or played in the past.
You will already have an understanding of bidding and play but this course will act as a refresher to reinforce some basic rules and give tips for card play.
Each lesson will cover a revision topic or a new topic via on line presentations (live and recorded) and interactive quizzes and demonstration.
An online program is used for live card play practice so you will join classmates to practice the techniques.
Online links via Google Meet or similar and may include multiple room options for larger groups.

What is the progression route?

After each “module” topic, you can progress to the next one. Bridge is a game that you can learn to a high level or just learn enough to enjoy playing with friends.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes
There is monthly subscription of £5 for access to online learning materials (which are from an education charity). The first month is free and it can be cancelled at any time. This means that it is not necessary to buy a course book as the learning platform provides handouts, quizzes and extra material for your learning.
Full instruction will be given on the first session.

Work set between sessions?

Optional homework and practice deals (hands) to play / study
Access to online resources for self study

Teaching method/style?

Using the online resources, you can view material before, during and after lessons. (Known as a flip learning approach). Theory is supported by practical online guided play sessions.
The technical challenges involved in learning a new card and getting to grips with the technology can be helped along by things like quizzes in between lessons and re-watching videos and demonstrations of card play.

Equipment Required

This is an online course. You will need good internet access and a laptop, PC or tablet/iPad. A second device e.g. a smartphone can be useful. For online delivery, it may be useful to print out some materials.
