An introduction to the card game and online play.
Learn some basic techniques and become familiar with the online world of bridge play.
What can students expect?
Discover how bridge is played and how you can start learning now, even with no cards and just a computer! This beginner course is for anyone interested. You don’t need to know anything about bridge or any card play.
The course will show you techniques for some simple bridge play and we will begin to use an online program for live card play practice.
Teaching methods include on line presentations (live and recorded) and interactive quiz and demonstration.
Online links via Google Meet include multiple room options for larger groups.

Late starters allowed?
Yes - If you have some prior knowledge or can manage to catch up with self study then late start is feasible. Please discuss this with the tutor before joining.
Previous experience required?
No knowledge of bridge needed
You need to be confident using a computer but there is no need to be an expert, as lots of help will be given.
What is the progression route?
After each “module” topic, you can progress to the next one. Bridge is a game that you can learn to a high level or just learn enough to enjoy playing with friends.
Are there any extra costs?
There is monthly subscription of £5 for access to online learning materials (which are from an education charity). The first month is free and it can be cancelled at any time. This means that it is not necessary to buy a course book as the learning platform provides handouts, quizzes and extra material for your learning.
Full instruction will be given on the first session and sign up can be delayed until the second course.
Work set between sessions?
Optional homework and practice deals (hands) to play / study
Access to online resources for self study.
Using the online resources, you can view material before, during and after lessons. (Known as a flip learning approach). Theory is supported by practical online guided play sessions.
The technical challenges involved in learning a new card and getting to grips with the technology can be helped along by things like quizzes in between lessons and re-watching videos and demonstrations of card play.
For on line learning:
You will need a laptop, PC, Mac or tablet / ipad.
A second device (mobile phone) may be useful for voice link when using online play (but not essential) if you are using a tablet or iPad.
