Description

A week-long summer school ideal for beginners learning stained glass, as well as improvers developing more advanced skills and individual projects. Learners will have the opportunity to create a leaded glass panel or further their own stained-glass work under expert tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

Beginners will be guided step by step through the process of creating a simple leaded stained-glass panel, while those with some experience can develop existing skills, explore new techniques, and progress their own projects. Expect an enjoyable and intensive week of creative, hands-on learning.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, however it is recommended you join by the second session to make the most of the course.

Previous experience required?

No.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on Wednesday afternoon courses or Saturday workshops to learn the copper foil (Tiffany-style) method.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners will need to purchase materials such as coloured glass, lead, and additional solder and cement for larger panels. Coloured glass can be purchased from the tutor or local suppliers. Costs vary by project, but an A3-sized panel typically costs around £55. Course fees include classroom materials and sundries such as paper, masking tape, tracing paper, glass cleaner, kiln shelf paper, solder, fluxes, white spirit, patinas, and glass paints.

Work set between sessions?

No, although learners may wish to develop their designs at home or visit local stained-glass suppliers.

What should students bring?

<li>Lunch</li>
</ul>

Two or three design ideas (e.g. sketches, doodles, photographs, or images from books or magazines) to inspire your stained-glass panel design.

Teaching method/style?

Teaching will include demonstrations and hands-on practice in a fun, relaxed, and creative environment.

Equipment Required

Equipment and tools are provided. The tutor can advise learners who wish to purchase their own equipment.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
