This short course is perfect to get you started with watercolour painting. Each week you will learn new techniques such as wet on wet, stippling, splattering, washes and much more. Experiment with colour mixing and learn which paints, brushes, paper and sponges you need. For absolute beginners.

What can students expect?

In this short course you will be learning how to paint in watercolour from a complete beginnerís perspective in a structured and friendly way. You will learn how to mix colours, create different effects with paint using wet on wet, wet on dry, washes, create shadows, shape and form and so many more techniques. I will guide and demonstrate each lesson and help you develop new skills. You will develop in confidence to create your own individual style.

Late starters allowed?


Equipment Required

I will be providing you with materials to try out for the first lesson.
If you do have any of the following please bring them along: sketchbook, watercolour paints and brushes.

What is the progression route?

To continue painting your own ideas. You might want to join one of our other watercolour courses

Are there any extra costs?

Yes you will need to buy paints, paper and brushes as the course develops.

What should students bring?

The tutor will advise you on the paints, paper and brushes you will need to buy after week 1.

Teaching method/style?

I will be demonstrating step by step at the beginning of each lesson, showing you each new technique. Each lesson you will be given a demonstration, clear advice and guidance, l will provide information handouts on the different techniques used when appropriate.
Individual advice and support will be given. Learners will also benefit from each otherís feedback.
