Description

Learn the basic skills of copper-foiled glass in a day and leave with your very own beautiful stained glass insect to hang in your home or garden. Fee includes sundries; learners can purchase coloured glass and solder directly from the tutor.

What can students expect?

Come and celebrate the joy of nature and make a stained glass copper foil dragonfly or butterfly in beautiful coloured glass. Learn the copper foil technique which is easy and fun in this one day workshop. You will be taken through all the stages in designing and making (i.e cutting, grinding, binding pieces with foil, soldering and finishing your piece). Suitable for the complete beginner.

No, this course is perfect for a beginner.

What is the progression route?

You can join the regular Wednesday afternoon course to continue learn further stained glass techniques of leading, fusing glass, kiln fired glass painting, mosaic and of course more copperfoil stained glass. There is also a 5 day summer school which is lots of fun, if you want to work intensively on a project if you want to develop your skills or learn techniques.

Are there any extra costs?

Some sundries are included in the fee. Materials e.g. coloured glass, K grade solder need to be purchased directly from the tutor approx. £10-£12. Please bring cash.

What should students bring?

Wear sturdy shoes and an apron if you have one. Some pictures or sketches of flowers you like as inspiration for your simple design. A notebook to take notes.
Please bring some lunch and refreshments.
