<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Historiography of the Bible is the study of the history and interpretation of the biblical texts, and examines the historical context, importance, and contrast of the biblical passages with other historical evidence.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">The Bible’s ancient stories—spanning plagues, miraculous escapes, great floods, and cities lost to fire—have captured imaginations for centuries. But what historical truths might lie behind these tales? This course embarks on a journey through biblical historiography, examining events such as the Ten Plagues of Egypt, the Exodus, the Great Flood, the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the story of Esther. Using ancient accounts from historians like</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Herodotus and Josephus, we will critically explore where myth, history, and religious interpretation intersect.</span></span></p>
What can students expect?
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">In this course, we will analyse primary sources and historical accounts to distinguish fact from fiction within these legendary narratives. Learners will gain insights into ancient societies, their beliefs, and the ways historians and archaeologists have approached biblical stories over time. Through engaging discussions and critical analysis, we will explore how these stories have shaped cultural and religious identities, as well as the methods used to uncover historical evidence in the ancient world.</span></span></span></p>

We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="color:black">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="color:black">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="color:black">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></span></span></span></p>
