Description

Learn some basic Spanish for your next holiday in a Spanish speaking country! The following topics will be covered amongst others: finding one’s way, booking accommodation, visiting places of interest, shopping, travelling around, eating out.
This course is for total beginners.

What can students expect?

A range of topics covering the situations encountered on holiday, and some cultural background information.
The following topics will be covered amongst others: greeting people, finding one’s way, booking accommodation, visiting places of interest, shopping, travelling around and eating out.
Course content will also cover:
Spanish language basics – Pronunciation, alphabet
Getting used to the Spanish sounds; listening comprehension exercises and recognising words.

Late starters allowed?

Probably not after Week 3, but it may be possible, if they are not complete beginners.
Please check with the tutor before joining.

What is the progression route?

Join Level 1 A, Term 1

Are there any extra costs?

A course book may be used. Details will be given at the first session.

Work set between sessions?

Yes, homework is set each week.

The most important thing is to review each class and learners own notes between sessions.

What should students bring?

An A4 ring binder for any handouts and photopcopies. Paper for notes. Pen, pencil, coloured highlighters.

Teaching method/style?

Pictures, music, game boards, role play tasks and quizzes will be used during sessions.
Group and pair work. Listening, speaking - and some reading and writing for purposes of consolidation and revision at home.
