<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">An introduction to the basics of hand embroidery. You will explore techniques for sewing on buttons, patching to cover a stain, tear or hole (incl the trendy “<em>visible mending</em>” method). If you just want to have fun playing with colourful thread and embroidering a picture or an initial letter that will be welcome too. </span></span></span></p>
What can students expect?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The course is a gentle introduction into how to choose needles, threads and how to begin a project. Every week, you will learn different techniques. You will have fun trying out coloured threads, decorative running stitches while progressing to some simple embroidery stitches. The tutor will provide scraps and backings, buttons, and ribbons for practice and lots of ideas on how to use your new skills in a creative way. You will make your own needle keeper and pin cushion as part of the course. </span></span></span></p>

What is the progression route?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Further courses in stitching or embroidery at Stoke Lodge. Learners can re-enrol on the next course as the tutor will tailor the content for returning learners.</span></span></span></p>
Are there any extra costs?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Yes. A small charge for materials and paints of no more than £5 payable to the tutor. Please bring cash.</span></span></span></p>
Work set between sessions?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">No, however, as sewing can be a slow activity, you may need or want to finish things outside of the sessions.</span></span></span></p>
What should students bring?

Refunds and cancellations
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</span></span></span></li>
