Description

Explore drawing and painting on fabric with Inktense watercolour pencils followed by freemotion machine stitching. Stitch first, then colour in; or paint first then stitch on top. We will try both! Tutor will provide templates if you are a nervous sketcher.

What can students expect?

After an introduction to these versatile and vivid watercolour pencils, you will experiment with using them. You will learn how to create beautiful washes, colour in a shape with crisp edges and a combination of the two. The tutor will provide Derwent Inktense blocks and pencils to use if you do not have your own. You may want to purchase a set of 12 pencils in advance as they are so much fun and permanent on fabric & paper once they have been wet then dried. There will also be a full introduction to freemotion embroidery, and you will create at least 2 pieces.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Previous experience required?

Suitable for beginners or those wishing to extend their techniques and skills.

What is the progression route?

Further courses in stitching or embroidery at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. A small charge for materials and paints of no more than £5 payable to the tutor. Please bring cash.

What should students bring?

<ul>
<li>Sewing machine. Please ensure it is in good working order</li>
<li>Threads (green sky blue, white, brown, black) and pre-wound bobbins</li>
<li>Freemotion foot (also known as darning or embroidery foot)</li>
<li>Embroidery hoop 6"- 8” if you have one</li>
<li>Watercolour pencils, paints if you have them (these are not however wash proof on fabric whereas Inktense are.)</li>
<li>Watercolour brushes</li>
<li>Plain cotton fabric e.g. old sheet to practise on</li>
</ul>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
