Description

Explore writing names with freemachine stitch and freemotion couching of braids and ribbons. Learn how to make a lined zipped case and apply your best piece of embroidery to the side for a unique gift.

What can students expect?

Suitable for beginners or those wanting to extend their techniques. You will learn freemotion couching of yarns or braids along with freemotion “writing” with stitches. When you have created an initial or name you are happy with, you will learn how to appliqué your sample onto fabric and create a simple lined pencil case or purse.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Tutor will have spare zips, needles, stabilising fabric and backing fabric at a small charge according to use. Please bring cash.

What should students bring?

<li>Sewing machine. Please ensure it is in good working order</li>
<li>Threads (white, black and any others you like) and pre-wound bobbins</li>
<li>Freemotion foot (also known as darning or embroidery foot)</li>
<li>Zipper foot</li>
<li>6” or 8” zip to match your fabric or black</li>
<li>Plain cotton fabric e.g. old sheet to practise on</li>
<li>25cm x 50cm cotton fabric for outside of case</li>
<li>25cm x 50cm fabric for lining</li>
<li>Erasable pen or pencil</li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>Embroidery hoop 6"-8” if you have one</li>
</ul>

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
