What can students expect?


Learners can expect a friendly class, flexible to their needs. All exercises can be adapted so that everyone can join in if they want to. The warming up exercises are very gentle and done from sitting on a chair. Other exercises are taught that have specific health benefits: posture, balance, leg strength, breathing, mobility of joints, relaxation of muscles, management of pain, mind focus, coordination. Learners can request certain types of exercise. Focus is on enjoyment and feeling good.

Previous experience required?

No

What is the progression route?

Learners can progress to Tai Chi. Or continue to practice these exercises but with greater depth of understanding.

Are there any extra costs?

No

Are there any set books?

Not essential but The Qi Gong Bible by Catherine Allen is a good course companion.

Work set between sessions?

Optional but learners are encouraged to exercise between classes for their own wellbeing.

What should students bring?

Wear loose comfortable clothing and flat shoes.

Teaching method/style?

Flexible according to needs. All exercises can be done from sitting or standing. Friendly relaxed class with opportunities to chat to other participants and ask questions. Exercises mostly taught by demonstration and explanation, then following the tutor. Some small group work. Learners can request particular exercises to suit them.
