What is this course about?

Who is this course for?

<p>You must be aged 19 or older by 31st of August 2023 <span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">and be eligible for publicly funded ESOL courses. </span></p>

Are there any entry requirements?

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">• complete an Entry 3 assessment </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">• or have an Entry 2 qualification in reading and writing</span></span></span></p>

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

How will I be taught?

What feedback will I get?

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course, you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on paper exercises you do. You will decide individual learning goals with your tutor and see your progress over the term by keeping a folder of work. </span></span></p>

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

<div><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">You will be able to talk to your tutor in one to one meetings about your learning during tutorials. Your tutor will ask for your feedback as a group at different times during the session and in course reviews. You will be able to formally record your views on the course at the end by completing an evaluation form. You may also complete GLA & OFSTED surveys.</span></span></span></div>

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">Other ways to give feedback include via your class representatives elected in class, through the online platform and learner focus groups.</span></span></p>

Additional information

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">It is very important for you to attend your class regularly. If you are unable to attend a class, please notify your tutor. If you do not attend classes during the first week or fail to attend for three consecutive classes on the course without informing your tutor, you will lose your place of study.</span></span></p>

Assessment Method

<div><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">Initial assessment before the course and diagnostic & formative assessments during the course. It is important that you complete homework on time. Your homework will be marked and the tutor will give you written and verbal feedback to support your progress.</span></span></span></div>

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Gill Sans MT&#34;,sans-serif">Other pedagogical tools used include peer and self-assessments.</span></span></p>
