What the course is about
This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to obtain a basic level qualification in Advice and Guidance. This could include anyone who comes into contact with the public, such as in careers, housing, employment, rights, debt, and education especially those who give help to clients and assist them to make decisions
The course covers the skills needed in advice work, communication with clients, meeting the client’s needs, boundaries, referral, legislation and others. You will be asked to complete a series of small worksheets leading to a nationally recognised qualification, and will ask get the opportunity to interview an advice worker on the work that they do.
Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
No previous experience required apart from a desire to help your clients to achieve their goals in life. The course is suitable for those who already work or volunteer giving advice and guidance but who have yet to gain a qualification.

Assessment is via a series of small worksheets. No tests or exams.
At the end of the course
You will receive a full nationally recognised certificate once you have completed all the worksheets. Some portfolios will be sampled for quality assurance before the certificates are claimed.
There will be a short evaluation questionnaire to complete at the end of the course, and a follow up at the end of the academic year. You will have the opportunity to share with us your thoughts on what you enjoyed and any improvements we could make by these means.
Next Step
Options for next steps include the Award in Education and Training or the Information Advice and Guidance Level 3 qualification (offered elsewhere) and 1-2-1 advice about applying for relevant jobs if desired

Equipment Required
Learners applying to come on this course must have direct access to a PC or laptop (including Macs) and a reasonable internet connection. Guidance can be given on the above if needed – please do ask. The course is unlikely to work well on a tablet or ipad, and will not be suitable for mobile phones.
