What the course is about
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you’re not sure what interest rates are, how to use percentages, the difference between a bank or building society account, or what credit means, then this is the course for you. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The course is for people who would like to understand how to plan, budget and save in order to make the best use of their income, whether that be from benefits or work. It will look at bank and building society accounts, saving, borrowing, credit, insurance, scams and online safety.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The sessions will be run face to face in small friendly groups at Kenton Learning Centre. While your privacy will be respected, learners will be encouraged to share ideas on how to save money in these critical times.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Learners will produce a small portfolio of worksheets and blogs to meet the requirements of the qualification and, on completion, will receive a nationally recognised certificate.</span></span></p>
Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">No previous knowledge or experience is required apart from a desire to help yourself manage your own money. You should be able to write simple sentences in English and add up simple figures.</span></span></p>
Materials you need to bring
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Pen and paper for making notes during the sessions. Worksheets will be provided for you to complete.</span></span></p>
Assessments, tests, exams
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assessment is via a series of small worksheets and blogs (as above). Definitely no tests or exams!</span></span></p>
At the end of the course
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">On completion of the course learners may want to proceed to employability course run by LearnHarrow, or elsewhere. Some learners may want to take further courses in Maths at LearnHarrow or elsewhere.</span></span></p>
Equipment Required
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">No equipment is required, but it will help if you have access to a smartphone and/or a computer.</span></span></p>
