What the course is about

What is the course about and how will I learn?
Unwind on Fridays and join this relaxing knitting class to learn new skills or to develop your existing techniques.
This course is an introduction to knitting. Basic knitting techniques will be covered including casting on, knit and purl stitches, casting off, increase, decrease and to read and follow a simple pattern to make a small accessory.
This is a social group for those who love to knit facilitated by a tutor. You will discuss different aspects of knitting including how they may be combined to make functional pieces to wear or items for the home as well as artists and crafts people who use knitting to make sculptural pieces too.
If you like doing any crafts in like-minded company, then come along to this friendly and sociable group in a relaxing environment.
Students with some experience will have time to work on their own personal projects and can have a go at more challenging techniques which may include complex stitch patterns and experimenting with new materials.

What will I achieve?
Over the 3 weeks the course will focus on;
• Basic understanding of knitting techniques
• Use materials in knitting techniques creatively
• Start to Produce a functional creative piece.

Putney School of Art & Design Art Shop on site: opening hours: 9.45am-10.30am, 1.45pm-2.30pm, 6.30pm-7.15pm (Mon-Thurs ONLY). 10% discount from most local art suppliers with PSAD Student Card.

What level is the course, and do I need any particular skills?
The course is suitable for all skill levels from beginners to for those wanting to broaden their skills and techniques to take on more challenging projects.
