What the course is about

<p>This course is fantastic for those just starting out or wanting to improve upon their skills. Sessions will include both group and individual support in order to help you get started and progress using watercolours.</p>

<p>Topics include:</p>

<ul>
<li>Discussions about materials - suitable papers, brushes and colours</li>
<li>How to apply washes and use washes to make an impact</li>
<li>Specific painting techniques and tips to create work you feel proud of</li>
<li>Colour mixing and theory</li>
</ul>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.</p>

<p>Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people. </p>

<p>Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.</p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>

<p>There are no Pre-course admission sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.</p>

<p>Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.</p>

<p>There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This is a mixed ability course, and you will be expected to have no experience in the subject or wish to improve upon your existing skills.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder.</p>

<p>You should also bring any relevant art materials that you have available to the first session, but before buying expensive materials and equipment please discuss their purchase with your tutor. You will be expected to purchase your own materials as the course progresses.</p>

<li>A large and a small watercolour brush</li>
<li>Watercolour paper</li>
<li>Pencil and paper</li>
</ul>

<p>You are advised to wear old clothes or an overall to protect your clothes.</p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
