What the course is about

<p>During this friendly and informal course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about starting to develop, construct and write an engaging short screenplay</p>

<p>Topics that may be covered include:</p>

<ul>
<li>Fun and practical in-class writing exercises in groups and solo</li>
<li>Understanding the unique features of screenwriting and comparisons with other formats</li>
<li>The importance of creating and developing a concept for your original screenplay</li>
<li>How to create profiles for your major characters and develop story arcs for them </li>
<li>Reviewing, editing and improving your own writing</li>
<li>Develop Structure and Pacing that works</li>
<li>Discuss the works of great screenwriters</li>
</ul>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.</p>

<p>Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.</p>

<p>Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.</p>

<p>This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course. </p>

<p>Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course. </p>

<p>There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This is a Beginners course, for those who have no experience in the subject, or very basic knowledge, including some memory of the subject from school.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. </p>

<p>During the first session your tutor may discuss additional materials to bring along, if possible.</p>

<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
