The total charge is £130. The full (undiscounted) tuition fee for this course is £130, the concession rate is £65. Please note that concession rates are subject to proof of eligibility.

What the course is about

During this course you will receive both group and individual support in order to help you learn more about the basics of using a digital (still) camera and enhancing and manipulating portrait images on a PC.

Topics that may be covered include:</p><ul><li>General photographic tips and good practice</li>

<li>Communicating with your subject</li><li>Learning about composition, choice of viewpoint and selection of subject material</li><li>How to control exposure, focus and flash</li><li>Learning how to edit and retouch your photographs on your computer</li></ul><p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.

Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.

Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.

This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.

There are no pre-course information sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.

There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This is a Beginners course for those who want to make the most of their camera. You will be expected to have no experience in the subject or very basic knowledge of the subject. This course could be helpful for people who are experiencing low mood, anxiety and/or stress.

Materials and costs

You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder.

During the first session your tutor may discuss additional materials to bring if possible.

<br><b>Proof of identity:</b> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
<br><b>Off-site activities:</b> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
<br><b>Parking at Centres:</b> parking at centres may be limited, please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
