What the course is about

<p>This one-day course will provide all the essential skills needed by photographers to get started with Photoshop software. This software tool can be used to improve your digital photography images. The course will show how to use software effectively to:</p>

<ul>
<li>Organise your image collection - import, process, manage and display images</li>
<li>Create a more efficient image workflow from camera to screen or print</li>
<li>Perfect your photographs with a range of built-in tools to control brightness, contrast and crop images</li>
</ul>

<p>All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing and you will work using these elements throughout the course. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people. Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience. This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.</p>

<p>There are no pre-course information sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course. Please ensure you have read and understood our STEPS guidance in order to accurately enrol upon the correct level course for you.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will work with you to review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course. There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This workshop is suitable for beginners but is aimed primarily at the needs of digital photographers.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need a notebook, pen and A4 folder. Prior to the session your tutor may contact you regarding additional materials to bring if possible.</p>

<strong>Fully funded learners:</strong> if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.<br />
<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant†study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />
<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
