The total charge is £435. The full (undiscounted) tuition fee for this course is £390, the concession rate is Free. This course also has a charge of £45 for exam fees. Please note that concession rates are subject to proof of eligibility.

Course requirements

This course is suitable if you have already achieved our Entry Level course or if you are a beginner and you already have some home grown skills<p>Using English and Maths well is an important part of any study and these subjects will be embedded into your learning so that you can write about your designs and calculate the cost of your arrangements. Your existing English and maths skills will be assessed prior to starting a course so that your skills development can be supported.</p>

What are the benefits of this course?

This course is ideal if you’re interested in going into the floristry industry either as an employed or self-employed florist or you just want to know more about working with flowers. You will develop the personal skills and attributes that are essential for successful progression into working in floristry. This qualification is a stepping stone to further study in floristry and it will enable the development of generic transferable skills and gain a qualification.
This qualification will:
• enable you to develop basic skills in craft
• provide you with underpinning knowledge of the craft process
• provide you with a basis for progression into further study in craft-related areas.
The objectives of this qualification are to help you to:
• develop a portfolio of work in craft
• use materials, tools and equipment correctly and safely
• develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the craft environment.

How will I learn?

This is a practical course. You will learn through teacher demonstration and presentation, independent practical activities, research to develop ideas and knowledge and by producing a range of items.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Your teacher will give you verbal feedback during each lesson and written feedback at regular intervals. Throughout the course you will discuss with your teacher what you want to achieve and record it on your individual learning plan (ILP). You will complete a portfolio of evidence that will be internally assessed by your teacher and checked by an external quality assessor.

Are there any additional costs?

Materials will need to be purchased each week. Any essential tools or equipment that you may need will be discussed with you during the course. Students undertaking the qualification and in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to help with these costs.

What qualification will I get?

If you successfully compete your course and qualification assessment you will receive:
• An NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft

What will I be able to do after this course?

You will be able to enrol onto a wide range of creative courses at Adult Education Wolverhampton. Check the website for new courses that start throughout the year.
