Fees and concessions

The total charge is £390. The full (undiscounted) tuition fee for this course is £345, the concession rate is Free. This course also has a charge of £45 for exam fees. Please note that concession rates are subject to proof of eligibility.

Course details

Develop your creative passion and gain the skills needed to work in the floristry industry. You will have the opportunity to create contemporary and traditional flower arrangements, create your own ideas using floral art skills, make exciting floral table decorations and re-search the craft industry organisations. A portfolio must be produced for this qualification.

You will have the opportunity to explore opportunities for employment and self-employment

Course requirements

Ideally you will have achieved a Level 1 qualification in Floristry prior to starting this course.

Using English and Maths well is an important part of any study and these subjects will be embedded into your learning. Your skills will be assessed prior to starting a course and there will be opportunities for you to improve these skills if needed.

What are the benefits of this course?

This course is ideal for anyone interested in going into the floristry industry, volunteering in a Floristry setting or becoming a self-employed florist. This course will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required to work in Floristry. You will develop the personal skills and attributes that are essential for successful progression in working life.
This qualification will:
• extend and further develop your skills in this subject
• extend your knowledge and understanding of the creative craft process
• extend your understanding of health and safety issues
• provide with a basis for progression onto further study.
The objectives of this qualification are to help you to:
• use raw materials, tools and equipment in a safe and competent manner
• evaluate your own work, develop ideas and learning through the craft process
• develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the craft environment

How will I learn?

This is a practical course. You will learn through teacher demonstration and presentation, independent practical activities, research to develop ideas and knowledge and by producing a range of items.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Your teacher will give you verbal feedback during each lesson and written feedback at regular intervals. Throughout the course you will discuss with your teacher what you want to achieve and record it on your individual learning plan (ILP). You will complete a portfolio of evidence that will be internally assessed by your teacher and checked by an external quality assessor.

Are there any additional costs?

Materials will need to be purchased each week. Any essential tools or equipment that you may need will be discussed with you during the course. Students undertaking the qualification and in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to help with these costs.

What qualification will I get?

An NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Craft.

What will I be able to do after this course?

You will be able to enrol onto a wide range of creative courses at Adult Education Wolverhampton. Check the website for new courses that start throughout the year.
